So we have this discussion over at thedarkmod.com (no one there preorders it) and I really wonder what you guys here at ttlg.com think!
SubJeff on 18/1/2014 at 11:15
I don't think anyone is pre-ordering it.
I'm not.
Where is the "I'm not pre-ordering, I'm just going to get it if the reviews are terrible" option?

I'm sure henke might be capable of it.

I don't want to risk contributing to the sales of this game if its bad. If it sells well regardless of bad quality, that could mean that there will be a sequel which is even worse. I'll play it first, then perhaps buy it if it ends up being worth it.
Though there seems to be a glitch in the pricing, because you can get the full game with all the content for the standard price if you pre-order, but the partial post-release version isn't actually cheaper at all despite the fact that content has been removed from that version. If I was cynical, this would sound like some sort of a sinister scam.

Yes, there could be a sequel and of course you would be
forced to play that as well! How terrible would that be? :o
And bragging about this
play it first, "buy" it later thing still isn't cool. For more pay what you want deals, check this out: (

As for me, I don't actually think that I'm going to pre-order Thief either. The 30% off voucher from GreenManGaming together with the 10% discount that they already have is a very tempting offer, but I want to know the system requirements for the game before spending any money on it - I have a feeling that I just may have to upgrade my computer first. :erg: I'm pretty sure that I will buy the game sooner or later, I think it'll turn out to be good (but not great) or at least it should be interesting, but I'll probably wait for the summer when I may finally have more time to play games again.

I picked "wait for a better sale offer" but the reality is I might not buy it at all unless I come across it for a few bucks. I just don't care about the franchise at all anymore. The original trilogy was a pretty nice set of games (yes, even the third one) but my tastes have changed, I'm bored with Thief and I'd really rather just play Dark Souls and GTA these days.

"Will you PREORDER Thi4f?"
NO.
Hell no.
I've decided I won't buy anymore rebooted games, especially those from Eidos, EM, etc. Enough is enough.
Besides, I'm too busy waiting for Half-Life 3 and Stalker 2.
:p

Nobody should be preordering anything it's retarded and it just encourages exclusive dlc and other rubbish.
Beleg Cúthalion on 18/1/2014 at 13:48
Preorder deals are there AFAIK to get a higher sales count for the first week or the first two. Apparently this is the most important figure for the industry. I can imagine the hideous idea of selling products which the consumer doesn't know is negligible.

Won't preorder it (I never preorder anyway) and won't buy it either.
