I don't know. Use Alt+Tab until you find a solution. How many memory-hogging programs do you have running while playing?

It's a DDFix default setting to disable Windows key. If ddfix.ini, uncomment the DisableWindowsKey=1 string and set it to 0.
I personally prefer having Windows Key disabled and use Alt+Tab or Pause keys to switch from the game.

Ah! Of course! Now it comes back to me:

Here I got a small feature request: could you block Win key while in game so it's not possible to accidentally go to desktop by hitting it by mistake (it invokes start menu)? It's immersion breaker when you play in dark room and hit it by mistake and bah, you're sent to desktop. Best would be to make it an option/toggle in .ini. Is it possible to do with ddfix?
I remember that now.

I wondered why I couldn't use that key any more. :)

Alt + Tab is my preferred method. It allows me to keep notepad active while playing to take notes while beta testing.
Win key just complicates my life, so I have it disabled on the keyboard.

Modifying my ddfix.ini fixed it thanks for the help.I know alot of you guys don't like the windows key since it breaks immersion. But its makes it easier to get to the video guide I use since from beating 1 and 2 using the guides since the author didn't do one for deadly shadows in just became muscle memory and it feels awkward and unnatural to me to use Alt+Tab just like I always use the arrow keys for movement because I could never get used to the WASD format. I will eventually not use the guides but no not the time. Sorry for taking a little while to reply I was just occupied with the other stuff at the time. Thanks for the help everyone.

Yeah, I can't stand the WASD controls. I love the mouse and arrow keys, though. As for the Windows Key, it's real easy to bump it, being right on the corner of the keyboard, or close to it, just for moving to rest the hand nearby and using the Shift, Ctrl, tilde, 1, Esc, and Tab keys for things.

I must confess I used to be the same but I'm a WASD convert now. Its much easier with the other keys around compared to the isolated arrow keys. I think I have GTA4 and Left 4 Dead to thank for that

I don't use WASD or the arrow keys, I use the Numpad. Yes, with my left hand. I slide the keyboard to 8-10" the left every time I play Thief. :erm:
