I always just don't bother with CCC, get the driver-only ATI package and the beta version of ATI Tray Tools. Has game profiles and good fine-tuning, much much better on resource-usage than CCC too. Pretty much perfect solution for me.

My question: does it have issues with older games?
In 90% of cases you will have little to zero problems. I've been running x64 Windows consistently since the beginning of 2007.
The only problems I recall were with my old vanilla discs of Red Alert 1 and C&C1, I couldn't install the W95 versions of either one because they used 16-bit installers, so I did manual installations ("The First Decade" compilation should be completely unaffected).
(Alternatively I could've used the DOS versions + DOSbox).

Sounds good - I have an XP laptop that, while pretty crappy, can easilly run 2D-era games, so I can always play those on that.

I like it how Crysis gets 30fps on all systems, but the W7 bar is a pixel or two longer to make it look like it's better.
I noticed that too. It's true in the Far Cry 2 section also. But in L4D both XP and 7 have the same number, and XP looks longer. In the second plot, the L4D bars have the same thing going, but this time it's Vista looking a little longer than 7. It's probably just accidental, but sloppy.
Also, as someone else said, pretty much all the systems seem to have performed the same.

RAM is so cheap...........
Bad RAM is cheap, yes.
I'll take 2GB of FSB-speed Corsairs over 6GB of Wal-Mart any day.

Bad ram, good ram. Whatever. It's all cheap nowadays. 4 gig of nice, speedy Corsair XMS 1066 will run you about $95. That's it.
Koki on 7/9/2009 at 19:59
If I had $95, I wouldn't be here!

Very little difference with different RAM-modules... and almost no performance increases to speak of when using faster more expensive RAM. As a gamer its far better to put more money on a better GPU.
Ati user here btw, have really had no trouble except for two Powercolor 4830 cards. With Nvidia I have however had voice coil squealing problems and as a silent PC-nutter I simply can't buy them.
Running 4770 o/c from 750/800 to 900/1200. CCC works just fine.
