Great thing is that you don't need the DVD anymore after EE patch :D. Some characters have completely new voice overs and some have remade lines. Also music seems to be improved. The new adventure Side Effects has also voice overs which makes it basically a free expansion :).
Can't wait for future releases in The Witcher saga.

I think having the old-man witcher call the girl "child" rather than "babe" justifies this entire thing.

So far, the new translation is a considerable improvement. Conversations flow considerably better, and there's clearly a lot that was originally lost in translation restored.
The inventory sorting options are goddamned useful, and shifting alchemy ingredients to a separate inventory also reduces inventory chore.

i played 7 hours straight when i got it to work.
a few flaws still and movement can still be wonkey, some transitions as well but damn loading is faster than 1.3 it seems and the little overall touches are sublime but good (npc differentiation, npcs follow you with their eyes).
just an awesome game. ....must continue to slay swamp mosters...

Agreed, and ditto..though last weekend I had about 6 straight hours to myself that I spent playing this game and it still didn't seem like enough.
It's 3am and I've got to be at work in 4 hours?
..shit in my boots!

I got it. Got the imported version with the extras, wouldn't mind paying $40 on steam but it didn't hurt. It's packaged like I'd just bought the last season of a TV show.
So far I'm just admiring it, watching the extras, etc. Installing and playing it feels like a big commitment.

I've just started chapter 2. Had some problems with artifacts for quite a while on my aging rig, but by turning hardware acceleration down a notch fixed it up.
So far I'm a bit mixed in my opinion of the game. Initially it seemed quite different, but the further I get the more it seems to be a pretty basic RPG. Go here, kill this, go there, get that. Fight some monsters and deal with a bunch of eccentric characters along the way.
I do however like the way the story is playing out even though it does seem fairly generic. No spoilers, but the way the first chapter ended was a pleasant surprise. Combat is different which is nice and the battle animations very good. Gambling is a lot of fun and I can see myself getting quite addicted to it. I'm also enjoying the fistfights although I haven't really gotten the hang of it yet.
I don't understand all the fuss about screwing women in the game. I've gotten layed twice now and find the whole thing utterly useless. I'm obviously still early in the game so I haven't seen the consequenses of my decision making, however, so far anyway, the grey areas don't seem all that grey to me. Hope I'm wrong on that one.
So.. not quite as good as I expected but definately a notch above the usual hack and slash seen in most RPG's.

Your choices will be already having effect - in particular how you handled the Scoi'atel in chapter 1 has a significant effect on how you proceed in chapter two. Also the choice of how you handled the prologue and whether you helped deal with the kikris outside the castle or went inside to defend the lab has significant effects from chapter 3 onwards.
