no version of the witcher required online activation.
you could register your game serial via the game onto the forum and then get cleared for downloadable content (like the extra-adventures) and extra tutorials/concept art but you don't need it.

What? There's additional content when you register the game?
mothra on 21/8/2008 at 23:29
when you register the game you have access to the
patches
tutorials (pdfs)
soundtrack files
and all of the features/additions of the enhanced edtion come september.

I can't wait for this to arrive especially with those new quests and better voice acting. Best of all it's free for me :cheeky:

The game will ship to stores on September 16 in North America and September 19 elsewhere in the world.
One can only hope that the download date will be the 16th.

New inventory, voice-overs, models, adventures, gestures, animations, languages, alchemy and sex cards, as well as improved stability, reduced loading times, and many more enhancements have found their way into the game... frankly, we can't remember all of the changes. Blame it on the Polish vodka, long work hours, or whatever.

Score! This isn't a limited edition, is it? 'Cuz I already blew most of my money this month on Clear Sky, and with classes starting I'm going to have a harder time saving money.

No it's not.
You can even buy the present version and download the enhancements via patching. I bought the UK version when it first came out due to censorship issues with the US version, and I don't plan on buying it again.

including the multilingual game disc allowing you to play with any combination of voice-over and subtitle
Now that's exactly what I was looking for! Looks like I don't have to re-buy this just for the improved english voice-overs. Awesome!

Yeah I'm aware of the present-version+patch deal, which I think is awesome. I just want to have the limited edition just to say I had it, and I'm perfectly willing to spend the money for it.
I mean, what else am I gonna buy?

On second thought, I'm considering buying it myself just to support CDproject's further handling of this gem. Such a labor of love deserves recognition.
