Heavenly Sword was the best use of Sixaxis yet. Very satisfying. More PS3 games should take note.

catbarf, what about Wii Sports' use of motion sensing do you consider a stupid gimmick, and what would you rather games do instead? If anything, I'd say it's the only game that's done it
right.
Well, it definitely works, but so far most of the games for the Wii have been built around the motion sensing more than any other quality. I'd like to see games that use motion sensing as another tool in gameplay, not as the sole point and advertising feature of the game.

Kojima did it first. HA!
I'll never understand what was the point of the Sixaxis.

A quick and cheap "me too" reaction by Sony upon seeing the Wii.

I haven't played any Wii games myself, but reviewers often complain that motion sensing isn't really integrated in games, it's just propped on as a selling point - i.e. Wii marketing has been built around the motion sensing, games haven't, and that's part of the problem.

Whilst there certainly is some truth in this its uses in conjunction with the normal use of the controller happen to differ somewhat to the use of the motion stuff on Wii.
Have you tried Heavenly Sword? The dual control of the "classic" system and the motion stuff is spot on.
Roll on the full motion controller from Sony.

Just imagine what you'll be able to do with natal.
SubJeff on 4/9/2009 at 16:07
I don't buy Natal. That initial demo video was scripted as tight as a gnats chuff. I've seen the promo vids for it and just like the Wiimote come on its never going to be as precise as that.
They've taken it a step too far and whilst I'm sure it will work my reservations are 1. it will require a lot of extra, expensive, hardware to actually be as precise as they make out and 2. without buttons to press there will be some limit to its functions. Its not going to track my finger pulling a trigger is it?
Having said that, I'd be happy to be proved wrong because if they can get it working as well as they claim it will be very, very impressive. Impressive enough that the money spent on the extra hardware would be worth it.

I don't know, I hated the sixaxis in Heavenly Sword. I couldn't get it to work with precision for the life of me. The result was the same with the analog stick, only I had to rape my wrists in the process.
Though the huge 'lolz' for sixaxis use goes to Rockstar in GTAIV. They went an integrated in the bikes, which are already near to impossible to control with the standard controls.

The cool thing about it was it was actually very subtle. If you couldn't get it to work you were likely over-steering. It's what everyone does at first. Take your time with it and you'll find it's very rewarding, especially on the later levels with a lot of twing twang. :p
