I'd put it in a tag but I can't.

The thinking behind a literal interpretation of RPG may be valid, but it's pretty useless in practice if we're talking about genres

Don't get me wrong - I'm happy for the RPG label to be used on the genre because that is a language that we are all used to.
Let us not forget that the article that sparked this is both just exposition and also not actually trying to redefine what and RPG is. He's just talking about the immersion he felt in the same was as I do when I talk about Thief.
As you've already agreed that the thinking behind it is sound I don't see the problem.

It's not a big problem, but I think this thread is pretty much rendered toxic because the discussion keeps circling back towards the semantics debate. Okay, perhaps the thread was rendered toxic by the fact that the thread originated with someone who much of the time seems physically unable to post anything constructive.

Now how have I misunderstood you admitting to waking up everyday and "recently" (last year at least) thinking "How can I be more of a dick today than I've been in the past?" on the TTLG forums?
Okay, bad wording on my part. My dickness is, just as everyone else's, a constant. I can, hovewer, act on it or not, especially through such indirect medium as a forum. So it's not as much actively putting effort into it, as it is
not putting effort into holding myself back.
And as usual, to not make this completely offtopic:
(
http://www.lazygamer.co.za/video/ea-crossing-the-line-reviewers-get-real-cheques-for-200) EA sends $200 cheques to gaming journalists as a way of promoting Dante's Inferno. There is some logic behind it(Greed being a sin and all), just not enough.

Love it, making the ability to shake boobs a selling point, I wonder how many people who own both consoles will buy the PS3 version just because of that. From a marketing perspective, genius. From a personal perspective, I like boobs.

I prefer them to be real rather than these weird, rubbery things. I definitely don't like cleavage=uncanny valley.
I like the ad, though. :D

Sure but this is so incredibly juvenile and sexist that I am simply defenseless, sixaxis boob-control is the mother of guilty pleasures and I am going to indulge myself.
edit: and somebody please explain me these tags, hilarious but wutsitfur
