So I downloaded the World in Conflict Demo (
http://www.worldinconflict.com/) Get the demo here. (Gamershell seemed to be the fastest download speed by the way.)
And I installed it with much anticipation. The screenshots I've seen and the reviews I've read said all good things. I started out with the tutorial. I thought, "This game is going to kick some serious ass!" The graphics were good, the sound was good. It seemed to be going good.
Then I realized I really didn't like the camera controls. Kind of hard to get used to. Yes, they are powerful controls, but a bit of a pain in the ass for me. I succeeded in the tutorial, and thought that maybe the game would get better.
I started the first mission and realized that I had to babysit all of these troops. There'd be a conflict in an area, with one of my tanks right next to it, and it wouldn't engage the enemy. I really hate to play god or theater commander, or whatever with games. I'd really just like to be in charge of a lot less things thank you very much.
Overall, I rate the game
Meh. The game looks fantastic. There is a lot of stuff to do. But I really hate babysitting so many of my troops. In real life, when I tell my guys in the Air Force Reserve to do stuff, I don't have to babysit them. They get the job done. When a problem occurs, they take care of it if they can, if not they ask me what to do. It seems this game is a lot like a new version of Command and Conquer. I remember I got tired of babysitting the GDI or Nod troops too. :erg:

After Activision-Blizzard cast them aside, Ubisoft bought the developer Massive Entertainment and the full rights to the World in Conflict franchise back in November. The expansion "Soviet Assault" is on track for March.
Seriously, fuck Activision. From Sierra's line-up they decided to keep dirge like Spyro and Crash Bandicoot, but cast aside Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, Ghostbusters, Brutal Legend and WiC? Talk about becoming the "new EA", it's only a matter of time before ActiBlizzard's annual sequel factory franchises nosedive in quality like EA's did.

So... it's an RTS with micro-management?
Outrageous.
