So call me a blind fuck, but I can't find any demo there.

I am totally in love with this. It's so perfectly realised from the simple, yet addictive gameplay, to the unique art direction and whimsical score that's all filtered through it's kooky bent. As soon as the full game is released I think this is gonna be a hot contender for my GOTY.
It is already, since they extended the pre-order until the release date. So you get the full release download immediately (may not be immediately) plus the profanity pack if you buy it before the 13th.

This video of the demo chapter is pretty helpful if you're not sure what sort of game it is yet (I couldn't figure it out from the web site, trailer or all the dodgy descriptions around. Maybe I didn't have my ear trumpet in or something but "It's like crayon physics but it isn't. There's balls of goo" "Balls of goo?!?" didn't really work too well.)

I don't think they're releasing the demo as yet.
Then let me get this straight. All this circlejerk, including praise of gameplay and GOTY nominations, is based on a trailer. Two trailers.
Good job, team.

Don't those who pre-order get the first chapter right now?
Yes, those who pre-order get to play the first part of the game immediately. I would therefore presume that those above us singing praises have played that.

I sure do hope so, even though it raises more questions like "Why preorder a game you can't even check out a demo of?".

Well, maybe they liked Tower of Goo a lot?

An earlier build (april I think) of the 1st chapter of World of Goo has been available for, like, ages as a kind of tide-you-over until the full release for pre-ordererees - the full release was made available to us on Monday of this week, but that's a secret. The rest of you will just have to wait a couple more days for the whole thing, or if you can't hang on the 1st chapter try out I think is still available as a pre-order thing - you'll get the full game on (
http://www.worldofgoo.com/) Monday coming, I think.
And yes, World of Goo really is that goo-d.
(it's also pretty solid under Wine for those who can't hang on for the native linux version - as I understand things you'll be able to download versions for Mac and Linux and Windows PC with your single purchase. - again, I think; it seems strange but that's what they say)

You don't have to, it's not compulsory. It's just something you can do if you'd like to. (also it's what all the cool kids are doing)

So anyone beat 23 metres yet... no..?

Yeah, people who pre-ordered are now playing the full game.
Koki: People pre-order games based on nothing but hype all the time. If you're worried about getting burned (it happens), then you're right -- you should absolutely wait for a demo.
On that note, I've read that while there WILL be a demo for World of Goo, it WON'T be available on the official release date; you'll have to wait a while longer. Which might be frustrating when people are raving about the game, but hey... we all have other good games to play to while away the time, so no biggie really.
