There are words of a European version with an extra chapter for january, but I can't understand if the extra will be freely downloadable or not, provided you already have the basic version...

Hmmm. I think there would be a lot of annoyed customers if you couldn't get upgrade to the bonus chapter. I'm betting it'll be a free update.
I had seen a reference to those levels, and had thought I'd seen a spoiler for the end-game (which was annoying to start with), so I was expecting the game to continue after I'd finished it! D'oh.
Then I thought maybe it was an unlockable chapter, and I was pondering what I might have to do to get at it, when fortunately I found out what the situation actually was.

(I have exactly 300, and I saw a cloud with more than 750!)
The build limit is 300. You can collect more goo of course but you can only have 300 when building your tower of goo. It's kind of disheartening, I was looking forward to redoing levels and everytime a got a extra goo going back and adding it to my tower, but it does put the focus on tower-building skill.
Anyway I finished it yesterday and it was completely enjoyable experience from start to finish.

I wish I could see how many goo balls I had rescued. Other clouds say things like 248/731 goo balls, whereas my own cloud says (for me) 248/300. Obviously when other people look at my cloud they see 248/xxx > 300, but I don't know what my own total actually is. It'd be nice to know that... Maybe I'm just being blind.

this game should be compared to loco-roco, not portal
loco-roco is better

Looks about right comparison wise. Also, Lemmings

I think it gets compared to portal as a polished puzzle game with a sense of humour. Of course there are many polished puzzle games with a sense of humour but Portal is the most recent and high profile example. Lemmings always seemed, to me, to be the most obvious gameplay comparison.
Shadowcat you can see how many goo balls you've saved via the profile options.

Yay! Thank you, I was never going to look there.
782 balls of goo on the wall, 782 balls of goo...

Got it for the Wii. Having a (goo) ball :)
My oooooooonly possible regret will come if all of a sudden WoG comes with a level editor or new creator made levels to extend the life of it. Controls nicely with the Wiimote even if it's not as fast as the mouse (unless you have terrific pulse and hand-to-eye coordination, methinks).
Also, just finished Mega Man 9 for the Wii too...w000, that was fun (and hard).
Next stop: finish up Braid!
I love the autum-winter gaming season...
