I hoped that Cataclysm will turn Wow into a new game, but it looks like many people were disappointed and Blizzard lost about 5% of the playerbase...
So they are opening Azeroth to everyone with hope many will upgrade their accounts and give money to Blizz
Cataclysm whilst it does add alot of content, its spread all over the place across all levels, and so unlike Wrath leaves high level players with nothing to do besides raid after a MUCH shorter time frame in comparison. That was a major negative in it for me.

WoW is starting to die or has for a while. Blizzard knows it and that's why they have Titan nicely underway. As a business, they want it to die gracefully and slowly with as much player transfer to the new game as possible. The problem the company has is that it's now married to MMORPGS, not having a successful MMORPG racking in money would be quite bad for the company.
Being free until level 20 is utter shite even if you don't even think about guild and chat restrictions. They should put "vanilla" WoW (to level 60) free.

Good god man, I don't think you've ever seen a dying MMO.

Starting to die equals OMFG WOW IS DEAD in Kokiland.
I reckon it's quite obvious WoW is only getting smaller from now on. Blizzard have stated that they are making Titan and want to make it before someone else takes WoW's players. It's a blessing for them that they have the brainless armada of asian players that keep the boat afloat as long as possible - the EU/USA ain't as strong as before anymore.

What is that Titan thing anyway? Any info?

Not much, but it's supposed to be WoW's successor set in a new universe. Apparently also supposed to be (even more) casual friendly. Tbh, I'd love it to flop some way so they might concentrate on making games again.

I honestly found WOW to be tremendously boring. While the generic setting and art didn't help, this is mostly related to the fact that combat is mind-numbingly boring and has no real connection to the graphics/world (I shoot him in the face and miss, what?), which seems to be a common MMORPG problem. I don't like grinding; I want every part of the experience to be enjoyable in and of itself.
Still waiting for a MMORPG that fulfills that. Not that I really want one. They take too much time.

An ex-RO player that doesn't like grinding? Now that's new.
You try that Renewal thing yet? Supposedly it's a breeze to level up now.

WoW kind of died for me when Shaman became playable by Alliance players.
It's like Blizzard gave up and stopped trying to balance the game. That, and I'd reached Level 60 by that point and raid grinding didn't appeal.
But those initial runs from 1 - 60 as Alliance and Horde, in such atmospheric environments which were a joy to explore; happy days. Although I played as a much maligned rouge rogue, it was a great class to play - there was much skill in picking the right approach for a given PvP situation and it was always nice to get a one-on-one challenge from an evenly matched opponent of differing class.
Have very fond memories of my time in Azeroth. But I'm done with it.
