Is grave robbery really that out of place? It's still theft.

It's no secret that I detest zombies, haunts, and any of those creepy bastards, but Bonehoard very nearly ruined the game for me.
I completely agree with you. People nearly blow a gasket when I suggest that the undead in thief are more of a gimmick than a gameplay positive and I'm glad some folks enjoy undead missions but its just not for me. If I want to play a horror game I play a horror game - I don't need it mixed in with my stealth game.

The Looking Glass people just liked undead, monsters, and intentionally creeping gamers out. Even before the Dark Camelot days, the game that D.C. evolved from, which Thief evolved from, was called "Better Red Than Undead".

I dislike most of the "monsterfest" missions from TDP. Some are entertaining, but... :p I'll have to agree on The Guild, though... I really wanted to like it, but after about two neverending hours of running around the whole complex with everybody dispatched and blackjacked, I simply gave up. It's the only mission of the trilogy I never finished.
Several Mechanist missions in TMA were pretty boring and dull (especially while nearing their end). Kidnap and Soulforge were just... meh... But I appreciate the industrial nightmarishness of Soulforge's designs... The Spiderbots and a hall full of autoturrets really freaked me out. :weird: :wot: I tried to break into Karass's chamber and K. O. him for good, but later I decided to take pleasure in destroying nearly every robot I met - even when I was starting to get low on gear. :) Take that, you mumbling mechanical b****** !!! :joke: :ebil:
The lamest mission in TDS was IMHO the Sunken Citadel. The Kurshoks and the architecture were amazing, but the level felt linear, short and... like going nowhere... :erg:

The SwordI have always hated this mission! I don't like mazes and I especially don't like faces that shoot lazers at you:p

You can only imagine my dismay when I got to the Haunted Cathedral. :( :mad:Hmm, I can understand Bonehoard but I'll tell you, I think the Haunted Cathederal is amoung one of the best atomospheres in the series, second probably to the Lost City

The other twin among "Casing the Joint" and "Masks".

I second you on that.
If I want to play a mission again, I play it again. I don't need the game to force me to do the basically same mission twice.
And as runner-up for the worst mission: Soulforge. I just hated that level. I think it's the only level ever that I only played once. (I played Masks a couple of times since it's quite nice, just not its retarded twin)

Running Interference - Normally I love a good mansion crawl, but I thought this mission was extremely boring, dull, uninspired, uninteresting, you name it. IMO, a really lackluster way to start off Thief 2. Plus, you can't ghost it.

I think I'll go for Soulforge as my least favorite OM. I generally dislike missions where most or all of the enemies are non-human, so Bonehoard, The Lost City, The Haunted Cathedral and Escape are also pretty high on that list. Soulforge is just much longer and more convoluted than the others. Of the other, "human" missions, Thieves' Guild is maybe the one I enjoy the least because of its confusing layout.

One of my favourite aspects of playing Thief is the exploration, figuring out routes to get places, finding secrets & hidden loot, etc. Conversely, one of my least favourite aspects is running back and forth across a big map I've already seen several times over just to complete some menial tasks. I hate it when locations you need to visit are deliberately strewn across the map just to inconveniece the player. It means it takes longer to finish the mission, but it doesn't make it more fun. Especially if the layout is so confusing I have a hard time to figure out where I need to go even after I've bumped off everything that moves in sheer frustration - which seems to be one of those things that are prone to happen to me :o.
So in short, the missions I dislike the most are those that are guilty of this: Sabotage at Soulforge, Shipping... and receiving, and Thieves' Guild. And I'm not too crazy about the Maw of Chaos, either. Too weird, too short, too linear, too litte gameplay.
