I would say Crysis is nothing more than an above-average FPS with awesome graphics. 7.3 at best.
Nonsense, it was most certainly at least 7.53.

Why use numbers when words are so much more descriptive?
"Pretty but mediocre" sums up Crysis nicely.

You, sir, know nothing about rating games. NOTHING!

The only thing that put me off about the story was the ending. The game really felt like it was leading up to a big climax, but IMO it lost focus in the last fifth or so, before abruptly returning to the main story for the last one or two missions (and the story for those two were rather meh anyways). It's unfortunate because the rest of the game was absolutely beautifully written.
I actually thought, all things considered, the ending for this game was quite well handled. Especially compared to the endings of the previous games. I definitely agree that the game sagged in the middle, where there really wasn't much motivation for you to do anything apart from "he told me to". But I really thought the scope and scripting of the final missions (although that fucking jump took me a couple of attempts) provided a pretty interesting close to the game, although it was brutal.

It's absolutely criminal that they haven't nominated Need for Speed: Undercover and Gears of War 2.
i fallout3 gets any honors for using english worse than mine and writing stories and characters stupider than my retarded cousin I will quit my job and seek work in the gaming industry. their standards are sooooooo much lower than in my current line of work.

I desperately hope that Fallout 3 wins, just so you have to make good on your inane ultimatum.

Just accept the game for what it is - a singleplayer shooter experience. Sure, it's just a shooter, but the quality of the combat and gunplay is what defines a shooter, and I felt like Crysis nailed it. The pacing was excellent and kept me from getting bored, the level design was superb, and with the suit powers the gunplay was loads of fun. And don't play it on normal or easy; 90% of shooters, aside from games where the whole purpose is to run-and-gun, lose their flavor when you play on easy. Crysis on the highest difficulty really forces you to tactically get in position for assaults (using stealth to sneak between vegetation), to assess high threats and prioritize, and to ALWAYS be mindful of cover that you can retreat or advance to.
Vehicle sections and multiplayer were piss, though.

Perhaps I played the other ending that you did, although I can't see them being that different.
Leading up to the end, I thought the bit where Niko finally meets the man who betrayed him was EXCELLENT. However, the bit with the mob never reaches a climax and dies off, and in my ending Kate was COMPLETELY forgotten. Roman was shot, and while I thought it was incredibly risky yet respectable for Rockstar not to put any music into the cutscenes, this scene just wasn't nearly as dramatic as it should have been. And I just KNEW that they would end with some cliche line with a pan up to the statue of liberty. I really hoped they wouldn't do that, but they did. It wasn't an awful ending, I just didn't feel like it kept up to the standards of the rest of the game in terms of the plot (which was a HIGH bar to reach). And I'm referring solely to the closure of the story, because in terms of gameplay I agree with you that it did feel pretty solid.

Hey, vehicle sections were great fun ... as long as you weren't in your vehicle ...
