Who'd've guessed that "Playstation 4" would take the prize for best next-gen console title by a landslide? :p
Xbone's "game activation" setup is impossible without an online connection. That may not be "always on" but it definitely is "have to be online to install any of your games and play them for the first time".

Also, what was with all the clapping and cheering? That doesn't happen with my powerpoint presentations, and frankly mine are a damnsight more entertaining.
Maybe it was a clap track. I know they've used them in the past. Or maybe the journalists have to meet a dB level in claps in order to make the pay?
Or it could have been this? *snerk*

Very little spec info, which is surprising to me. I thought they might try to outgun the PS4 but I don't see much about the CPU or GPU. Perhaps its not decided yet...
The game selection is a yawnfest tbh. But then people who don't like PS games would probably say the same about the PS4 lineup.
This generation is looking to be a little boring imho. I'm going to get a PS4 for the specific games I know I'll want on it but I'm not that excited by all this.

Most of the reveal show focused on how Microsoft wants to take over your living room. They spent a lot of time talking about instant switching, being able to go from TV to video game to Skype to other video game instantly. Everything will be voice activated and the system will not run without the Kinect hooked up. They want to make it so you can operate the thing from your phone, as well. This is all very stupid. They need to stop trying to murder the general purpose computer and start making a fucking game system that plays games without any fucking around. If it does Netflix, great. If it doesn't, I don't give two tugs of a dead dog's cock. Just let me play my fucking game. I'm not interested in running two games at once. You thought Windows 8 was a fluke? Nope. They have completely and utterly joined the "unified experience" cult. Great.
Which all is, as far as I can tell, a Trojan Horse in regards to privacy. Microsoft realizes that with control over the OS, an always on camera in your living room, etc they can potentially gather an amount of information on their customers that dwarfs Google and Facebook......and all their "live" components so far have been tested and found to send usage data to MS regularly. Hell, they've even announced that the new Xbox will offer "smart" advertising by scanning your usage habits.
Privacy invasions? Meaningless TV features? Blocking used games? Also how the hell am I supposed to use this thing if I go overseas again?
Fuck this console, I'm going back to PC.

Good write-up deth. :thumb:
For me the XBO is still looking appealing though. Considering that I've probably used my 360 more to watch tv shows/movies on than play games on at this point, the "taking over the living room" stuff does look tempting, especially if they can get it working as well as it does in the presentation. Of course this being Microsoft I fully expect to have to pay for a Gold Subscription, and maybe a TV-features-subscription, in addition to Netflix to use the damn thing.
I've never owned any of the Playstations so I'm not sure how viable tv/movie watching is on that one. Does/will the PS support streaming video from your PC? And do they have Netflix?

Like everyone else, I'm sure, the voice in my head that reads things out for me simply filled in 'whuh' before it double backed and tried again. Phonologically, that's 'eks bohn' at first glance, but Microsoft's naming convention asserts that that shortened nick should be 'eks bun'.
The X Bun.
This is all I have to say about the new Microsoft console. This round is Sony's to win -- if the market doesn't go tits up because of escalating AAA game dev budgets.
