Every time someone mentions their 360 ringing itself it just reminds me of how little I want a 360. Who wants to go through that hassle?
Anyone who moves a lot, wants a system to take on vacation, likes to play splitscreen (although most new games don't have it since it equals less cash, or so they think), is interested in 360-only titles, doesn't want to spend a ton of cash on a PC, or isn't willing to deal with the hassle of software installation and driver updates as well as numerous incompatibility issues.

Most of those problems can be solved with another console that doesn't break as easily. As for 360-exclusives, I'm sure there's a lot of Halo 3 players who don't mind the occasional RROD. The cash argument means little when console prices go up with every new generation. And as for driver and software updates, don't consoles do that too now, only it's mandatory?
I mean don't get me wrong. The instant- the instant- that MGS4 is announced for the 360, the PS3 will cease to exist for me, but right now Dead Rising or the admittedly awesome games on XBLA are not big enough reasons for me to want a 360. PCs don't almost universally break like 360s do. And before you make a fool of yourself by reading only half the post like you usually do and banging out some smarmy "lol hyperbole" reply I said almost, as there are people who have yet to have a problem with their 360s.

I just got Geometry Wars 2 and I LOVE IT!!!
I was a big fan of the first one and got all the achievements for it, high score 3.4mil.
I haven't played the new one a whole lot yet but I've gotten 10 of the achievements, still need the last two. The hardest achievement so far was "Wax Off" (getting that last bit of red wall was insane!), but all the rest (besides the last two) were somewhat too easy for someone experienced with the first game.
I haven't tried multiplayer yet, but it looks like it could be a blast, especially if you are in the same room.
I really like the new shapes and behaviors. Not sure about the 3D wireframe look of the shapes though, but I'm getting used to the changeover.
I'm REALLY not sure about the "need 10x the last bonus score for the next bonus", it seems to be just too many points required, even with the new super multiplier system. But I haven't played it long enough to really judge that aspect yet.
I miss the two different weapons, but it's no biggie, and the standardized weapon does add some better reliability on certain strategies instead of having your weapon unexpectedly switch on you in the middle of shooting throug a swarm arm or something.
All the new "short game" modes are extremely welcome when I don't feel like mustering the stamina for a long tense game
Anyway, the new game is a definite winner, very very cool! :D

i have gw1 on steam, I like it but only play now and then. never mustered the motiviation to play longer than 15minutes therefore I'm still a n00b and not very good at it. but if GW2 has the same "so cheap you don't have to think" pricetag and comes to steam I'm gonna get it for sure.

Sorry, I thought you were referring to consoles in general.

Given.

Yes. So when you get a new driver, you know that it's the same one everyone else has, and it's been tested with a bunch of games so you know it works. Minimal fuss is one of the strongest points of consoles.

Absolutely, I'm having great trouble with "Wax Off". Completing "Sequence" is also proving troublesome. But I agree that many of the rest of the achievements are a little too easy, especially compared to the difficulty in gaining them in the original Geometry Wars Evolved.

And? At least on PC, you can choose not to update the new driver if it's known to have problems. And we all know console updates are sometimes broken- no system is perfect- but they're also mandatory, so your brand new system is now bricked because the company fucked up the OS update.

It's standardization. You will never get poor performance in a console game because you have a bad driver. You will never be prevented from playing the game because your card doesn't support SM3.0. Barring rare circumstances like the RROD fiasco, consoles are more reliable and significantly easier to use.

And? All that chart does is make my argument for me (thanks for that btw), and it only goes up to 2006- therefore it doesn't even factor in that if the American dollar gets any more worthless shoe companies will outsource their sweatshops to us.
Your argument for standardization, on the other hand, is more on the spot, and you're right, it is less of a hassle. We don't have to do anything except play the games console companies want us to play. Life is good.

Steam has the same problem, but that doesn't stop people praising it six ways to Sunday.
