Whatever this thing is, please be a proper expansion/expandalone for Firaxis' Enemy Unknown with new tech trees and the like.

That or the FPS game that was originally going to happen. Had alot of promise that game, even though it was far more X-Files than XCOM.

I'm betting it's a iPhone/iPad game.

It's neither one of those things, people. Geez. Don't you keep up with game news? The FPS is coming out as The Bureau: XCOM something something, and Firaxis already released an XCOM port for the iPad a couple months back.
My money's on the most obvious answer: an expansion.

That's now called "The Bureau: XCOM Declassified"
(

So this is something else.
Damnit, ninjad.

Whatever The Bureau is it bares basically no resemblance whatsoever to the FPS that Jordan Thomas was pitching 3 years ago. I would buy *that* game.

I know about that. What I was/am hoping for was that the original version of the game which was in the FPS style, with the black goo and all that, becomes a separate game in its own right.
The new iteration of it is more in a fast paced Mass Effect style of combat, with a different time setting (60s I think) and a 3rd person viewpoint.

Enough people are saying that - makes me wonder if someone might start listening.

We might have gotten that game if a bunch of loudmouthed idiots hadn't been all OMG X-COM IS RUINED 4EVER when that trailer was first shown. The changes to third person/brothers in arms squad shit/enemy unknown aliens seems to be some misguided attempt by 2K to cater to old school X-Com players, who were going to be whiny bitches regardless of what they chose to do.

It doesn't make sense. They already catered to the fans by making the turn based game. The annoying thing is that if they hadn't called that game XCOM, chances are we might be able to play it by now.
