what benefits ?
it's a console ? it has a controller as input device ? it is built as a single-purpose-machine: milk money and fuck you over, it's totally controlled from the outside and good for nothing else than the 3 games that exist atm that I want to play on them: MGS4, Y3 and especially DemonSouls. It's the worst of all consoles in term of performance afaik (from my friend, he says it all runs/looks ugly compared to xbox or their ports are just more crap)

I was acutally saving my money for my next PC upgrade so I can play Mafia2 at max settings but I played DemonsSouls yesterday at my friend and I NEED to play that game, it's THAT awesome. It was made for me, a game that builds on your misery and failures and elevates them to small victories making the whole journey have weight. What you do is typical hack-n-slash stuff but the context, the impact of the gameworld and online features is massive. it's the most impressive new game I've seen in a long time

and yeah, it controls like shit like everything with a controller. but it actually works for that game because you are supposed to falter and fail.

Other benefits - other games? You only wanting 3 shows your narrowmindedness, but even that pales compared to your idiocy. It has a thing called a BluRay player in it. Didn't you hear? Its also a media streamer/server so you can watch/listen to media from your PC on the TV.

And why the fuck would anyone care what your friend says? Is he the final word in these matters? I doubt his word carries any weight at all, him being dull enough to be friends with a twit like you and all.

This statement is among the most stupid things I've read on any internet gaming forum - "it controls like shit like everything with a controller" - and I've been on Eidos forums.

I'm glad I helped you feeling good and letting off some steam.

now back to other benefits:

- what other games ? the ones I already have on PC ? so I should buy them again ? hmmmm.....

- blu ray player: ah, that's the thing in my PC and the thing standing in my living room, aint it ? so I need a ps3 to have a 3rd one ? cool, why not, it's certainly a smart thing to do

- well, gaming-wise I trust my friend which has similar taste and aesthetic values as me more than some faceless, unknown "game" critique and after reading many posts on this site I know a few posters to trust with their opinion for certain games and when he says the PS3 is disappointing I sure believe him more than you

- and yes, I have troubles to control ANY game with a controller. And DemonsSouls makes a habit even for controller-savvy ppl like my friend to be a little HARDER so it controls like shit which is basically the same as ALL other games I played on a console controlled for me. like shit compared to KB setups on my PC

and so on, blah blah, now go to the eidos forum for your intellectual fix

nonetheless, failure or not, it's an issue for me and is a reason not to get a console, pure and simple and totally subjective. I won't dismiss a console or their games, I hate them personally because they are not suited to me and the way I wanna consume games. and I don't care what you think, either agree or not or ignore it but keep your personal opinion of me out of the thread, it's rather boring and irrelevant, especially regarding yakuza 3 or if I like the ps3 or not.

I'm not defending the PS3 per se, but consoles on the whole. To dismiss consoles on the basis of the controller smacks of laziness. I agree that they aren't suited to some games for some people. I would never get an FPS for a console if I could get it for PC for example because mouse+keyboard is the clear winner.
