It's because all the WoW players were too busy grinding to notice the poll (or anything else for that matter). *badaba-tish*. No no, I'm kidding. Put down that pompom, Uncia.
Man, I'm about 3 weeks' worth of skill waiting away from being able to equip a pompom. :erg:
Anyway. Poll on a site that regularly praises EVE + EVE developers stick a big "go vote!" on their frontpage = tha-da!
What amuses me is that it won the PVE award. Just... no. ;)

Should have put on google video or something. :p
And the videos would end up looking like shit due to the low res. Mine on the other hand are 1024x768 ;).
But anyway, (
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2516089326667783888&q=eve+online) here is a really nice trailer-like video of some good sized battles with battleships and big-ass missiles. :thumb:

So, the EVE: Trinity expansion (20 new ship classes and even prettier graphics than before) has been out for some months now and I figured I should post a few pretty pictures and maybe get some people hooked up (again). :ebil:
There is also a new limited (
http://www.eve-online.com/wingman/) "wingman" offer - if a paying subscriber sends you an invitation to test the game and you subscribe after the trial period, both you and the person who sent you the offer get additional 14 days of free play, so basically you get almost 2 months of play for the price of one (14 days trial + 1 month subscription + 14 days extra free time).
To make the offer even sweeter, I'll give everyone who makes use of it 50 million ISK (ingame currency) for free so you can get started quicker. That's enough money to buy and equip about 50-100 frigates or 10 cruisers or 1-2 battlecruiser. It's even just about enough for a battleship, but not for the fittings. Or if you are not interested in flying around, that's enough to get you started in the non-combat side of the game (trading, manufacturing, research, invention).
Why I'd do that? Because one of the great things in EVE is that you can basically play for free - it is possible to buy game time cards for in-game money so if you have what it takes to become a big industrial mogul or just a filthy pirate scum and can make enough money, you can stop paying real cash for your subscription altogether. The current going rates are about 150-200 million ISK for 30 days or 350-400m for 90 days. Using the latter, we come to a bit over 50m ISK for 14 days. And since I have enough money already, I don't mind paying you back those 14 days you get me when you subscribe.
This offer is only valid for new subscribers though, so if you already have an account and want to resubscribe it, you won't be eligible.
But enough rabbling, here are the piktars:

http://myeve.eve-online.com/download/videos/Default.asp?a=download&vid=156) Here is the official HD trailer of Trinity (resolution 1280x720). The Nyx mothership from the above screenshot can be seen at the 1:00 minute mark, with a Megathron battleship next to it and a bunch of other smaller ships in the background. The scale still isn't quite right as the battleship is closer to the camera, but it's good enough.
And (
http://myeve.eve-online.com/download/videos/Default.asp?a=download&vid=144) this is one of the best fan-made EVE trailers ever! It's from about 2 years ago so it still has the old graphics and is in lower resolution, but it's still gorgeous. Especially the flyby of the Apocalypse battleship while it's firing its beam lasers <3.
Last but not least - I'm a member of one of the best PVP alliances in the game and we live in 0.0 space (lawless and dangerous space, where no police ship ever sets foot). If you like to fight on a daily basis, I can get you in.
So what are you waiting for? If you are trying the game for the first time, post here or send me a PM and I'll hook you up with one of those Wingman offers. Of course you don't have to subscribe - if after the 14-days trial you decide you don't like it, no harm done. Oh, and join the ingame chat channel "ttlgkru" of course - I idle there quite a bit but will check it out every now and then to see if anyone's around. Also Ulu shows up every now and then, as well as Beast and Jones - those two mongs REALLY like ganking innocent miners so if you like that sort of thing, they'll welcome you with open arms. I'll even provide you with a few free ships and fittings to wreck havoc with.

Hmph. Due to the pics and videos mentioned in this thread, I've gone and downloaded the EVE trial. If this sucks up my life, I know whom to blame...
