Are stock-derived resources legal?

Yes, it's mentioned in the OP.
Mod note: This was referring to the OP of the TMA20 Contest thread.

Both T2 stock and T1 stock, and you can combine them too.

My question is if Looking Glass Studios works are public domain or there is any license allowing it.
Yandros on 26/3/2019 at 15:17
@Marzec My understanding is that they are legal because they are new creations by the author and not the same as the original resources.

@Marzec, IIRC, as long as such resources are using things like original textures, models or sounds, they're derivative works, and creating derivative works is usually one of the first things EULAs strictly forbid (which Thief 2 EULA does).

Assuming your interpretation is correct, Judith, I think after 20 years of releasing FMs with derivative textures that Eidos would have let us know by now if they had a problem with that.

This topic had been addressed 1000 times on the forums, a endless debate. Boring and off-topic in this case.

Marzec asked whether it's legal (it isn't), I think he isn't interested in anyone's delusions regarding the matter. If he wants to host the resource pack on his own website, I bet he prefers to know the risk beforehand. Eidos reaction is another matter, as is using LGS made content in fan missions (unmodified). Even "innocent" things like fan translations are derivative works and people pay fines / go to jail for it (in film industry more than anywhere else).

If he's concerned then he better removes Dark Project 20th Anniversary Contest missions from his website. These FMs have "forbidden" resources.
