The things that made me like Alpha Centauri better than any of the Civ games were how neatly they weaved the narrative into the game and how much personality the factions actually had. The combination of the writing, AI, visuals etc. worked extremely well for me. I hope they get at least some of this into the new game.

I feel exactly the same as Thirith. I love AC. I'm interested to see how this turns out because Sid is on board.

Agreed with Thirith, and I also hope they revise the gameplay from Civ5. I played it only once but felt it was a bit too clean and streamlined in places (like units auto-turning into boats) compared to Civ1/AC. Tho I haven't played any of the civs inbetween so maybe there's a midleground.

DRONE RIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::angel::angel: (those last 2 are talents)
The "outfit your spaceship" before planetfall part sounds cool. I wonder if they can bring back the Unit Workshop now that Civilization has abandoned the three-stat A/D/M mechanic.

I approve of this news.

As do I -- the premise behind Civ always bugged me for some reason, but I'm all for space colonization!
Thirith on 14/4/2014 at 08:55
What about the premise bugged you? The anachronism of the factions or something else?

Yeah, pretty much that. I have similar problems with how Counterstrike, up until CSGO, let you have multiple skins in one team -- GSG9 and Navy Seals, etc vs like, the Arab guy and that asshole in winter gear -- on, say, de_dust. Drives me crazy, makes no sense, rare moment where I can't suspend disbelief.
