(
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-24343698) Thank you, GOP. Thank you oh so much. I really needed to wake up to this.
It's fucking shocking that we've had two shutdowns in twenty years and both involved the GOP holding America hostage.
I'm going to eat a peanut butter sandwich and take my car to the shop. >:(

18th time in 37 years. It's not like it's a rare occurrence.

Mate, don't get me wrong, you've got some wicked people and some lovely cities and countryside, but sometimes your country is just fucking ridiculous.

Only sometimes?

Because every other country on the globe is running so super smooth right now.

Well, the ones not currently in the middle of a civil war aren't imploding over the very idea of affordable healthcare, no.

This was a bad move for the GOP last time. It's probably a bad move for them this time. Do they really think the Pres & Senate are just going to roll on their signature legislation after Obama got sizeably reelected for it, a bigger majority still supports the law, and it took 40 years trying to make it law the first time?

My impression, as a gullible and misinformed Canadian, was that this opposition was a Tea-bagger initiative and that the GOP was being dragged along reluctantly. I thought the GOP would try to spin it as a game attempt to quash the healthcare bill but let it quietly pass anyway, getting the best of both worlds.
How did they get pushed to the edge?

I know absolutely nothing about American politics except that you guys have a President, but (
