Scumble, what mobo & socket you have?
I have a Gigabyte 7VAXP - Socket A I believe for Athlon XPs

Also how does your 6600 perform? I'm very satisfied so far.
Not bad - Far Cry runs very nicely at high settings, and HL2 played very smoothly at high settings also. Haven't got that many recent games though, so I'm not sure I've challenged it that much. However, it's nice to replay some older games and have them scream along...

I'm surprise the game runs as well as it does. I figured that when I got outdoors I'd experience a massive framerate hit, specially since I have the tree and grass draw distance maxed, but it actually runs pretty well. I'd say I'm averaging about 20-25 FPS on a below spec system.

MB: Abit AN8 NF4 PCI-E
CPU: AMD64 3000 (1.8G)
RAM: 3GB Corsair PC3200 DDR (2x1GB, 2x512GB)
V: GeForce 6600GT 128MB PCI-E (Driver 81.85)
S: Using AN8 built-in sound
Oblivion auto-selected "Medium" graphics quality.
Graphics look great (testure detail and contrast remind me of Riddick Escape from Butcher Bay for some reason). I went into Imperial City, and ran around whacking people (in my throw-away into game), and got about 20 NPC's (guards, merchants and citizens) chasing me around trying to fight me to test the lag, and though it became a little choppy it stayed very playable.
Cheers,
Martek

Whoa, Martek a RAM freak? ;)

Thanks for satisfying report.
NfS Most Wanted is a good benchmarking game, a wild ride at 250km/h in nearly photorealistic world gives 6600 a decent challenge, but it's keeping breath with pride. With maximum details it gives around 35-25 FPS, in graphically intense situations it drops below 20). Of course, antialiasing drags everything down, so I don't push it above 2x at 1024x768.
I also found (kinda perverted) pleasure in checking GPU's temperature after having a game session. The GPU's temp is normally 50-55 C and after having a hour long NfS session it rises up to 75 C. That's more than when I play FEAR (around 65 -70 C).

Oh yes yes yes! Finally I can run all games I had to put aside with sadness when I still had mz old P2. Even 2D games. Scrolling sucks no more in Arcanum. Finally I can decently run Baldur's Gate with OpenGL accelerated effects! And Deus Ex & System Shock with 8x FSAA...

Athlon 64 3700+, 1gb ram and a Radeon 850xt pe, running it at all high in 1600x1200.
Just a bit stuttering when loading, or turning around quickly to view an area that hasn't been loaded. Otherwise at 30+ fps.
Tried at 1024x768 with 6xAA, and it ran great while in the starting dungeon but dropped to around 15fps when i got outside.

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3000 (overclocked)
RAM: 2Gb 3200 DDR
GFX: BFG 7800GT
I'm still quietly optimistic that I might enjoy this game. It'd be my first foray into the hardcore RPG market.

Did you guys who ran the system requirements lab test find that it was pretty accurate now that you have the game? I came in just under the recommended specs, but far above the red zone on the other end? Is the test fairly reliable?

Did it let you turn on HDR? It's not letting me turn HDR on. I've got an ATI x850 pro. Nothing in the readme about SM 3.0 cards being necessary for HDR

My semi-shitty system did very well with the SRTest thing, and more importantly it's handling the game quite nicely on medium settings. It's not absolutely smooth as glass, but it's a hell of a lot better than I was expecting, both indoors and outdoors. If the game plays like this all the way through, I'll be happy.
RyushiBlade on 23/3/2006 at 05:46
No, Fafhrd, no HDR for us. But hey, are you experiencing any artifacts like me? It really is crazy. Big, square, solid colored pixels everywhere.
