which actually reminds me of another interesting point - is Garrett his first name, last name, or only name?
Constantine refers to him as Mr Garrett, implying surname, and I think Garrett is a real surname, but then it's probably a real first name as well; it certainly sounds like Gareth or something similar.
I always think of Garrett as his first name and since he doesn't know who his parents are, he has no surname. Why he doesn't know who his parents are, now. . .I believe that's pretty much left up to our imaginations.

which brings up another odd thing ive thought up...
Garrett must have a piss-poor memory, because in order to survive as a thief, you have to be able coordinate your movements enough to run and such, so he had to be aobut 4 or 5 at the very least, long enough to remember your parents. Maybe he was a neglected child, his dad was a drunk, and his mother was either dead or didnt spend much time with him, which may explain his lack of memory. that or he had a really damn traumatic experience that he blocked out, which could also block out important memories of said parents. maybe his parents were killed by Hammers.. :erg: which could explain his .. disposition.

It's can be pretty easily explainable, actually. I always figured Garrett's mother was a whore working in the city's slums (hence, no one knowing who his father is) who died giving birth to him. He then could have been raised by.. say the brothel keepers until he was 6, 7 or what have you, and they kicked him out to the streets. . or he ran away, etc. . . it is a mystery.
YOU choose the ending! :joke:

Thats kind of what I have always figured. His mother/parents died or were killed when he was a baby - or very young. *someone* took him in and at least fed him and gave him a place to stay (can't say they 'raised' him, I can't see that in that type of place. But feeding him and giving him a corner somewhere to sleep while he was really small) then kicked him out when they deemed him 'old enough' to take care of himself.
Whether his parents were highborn, lowborn, a whore and unknown father, or travellers just who just happened to be passing through.
But does it mention *anywhere* that he doesn't know his full name? Maybe he does and he just doesn't care to use it for whatever reason? After all, one name is necessary, two is not. One name people have to use, but no one really needs to know another and he's not exactly in the habit of sharing more information about himself than necessary. He might have been told when he was very young and after his parents died (or whatever) he just never bothered to go by it.
Now, personally, I sort of like the idea that his parents were travellers from another part of the land and coming to the city in search of something, or escaping from something. They never intended to stay, but they ran out of money or were robbed. So his father had to go out to try to find food and was (for some reason or another) killed by the Hammers. His mother was sick and died from a fever a few days later. The boy was between 6months to 3 years, so remembers none of it, much less where they were from or where they were going. Someone took him in for a few years so he didn't starve, or possibly he spent some time in an orphanage until he was old enough and ran away and the rest is history. :)
Don't ask me *why* I like that theory. It just stuck is all. lol

Hmm. . .massive group fanfiction undertaking is imminent . .
hehee. . . seriously, though, that's another interesting theory. If I was (still) the type to write fanfiction I'd be churning out chapters left and right.

Garrett is cool.
And I wanted to perform necromancy. It was on my list. :cheeky::angel:

I like him because he is the ideal lover. Someone who I can really control and that I can get to murder people by just pushing their buttons if you know what I mean. ;)
Best part is he'll always keep coming back at the snap of my fingers and do whatever I say.. No matter how many silly little missions he fails or how many times he gets "killed" he will drop everything to come at my beck and call. It's very sweet to see him try and fail the same thing a dozen times over simply because I know just the right way to ask him.. :ebil:

Voice.....looks quite important. But i can't see the logic behind it.
This thread is a good demonstration of humanity's superficiality.
I am quite superficial too, since i'm only human.
I can understand how Karras felt, with his speech impediment.
