Your crush on Garrett? - by V. Equinox

The voice I have been most curious about was in both Thief 1 and 2. It is one of the guards and you hear it all through the Thief series. I specifically remember hearing it first in Bafford's. When you first enter the mansion through the sewers and into the basement you stumble on two guards having a conversation. There is the old, crusty guard (one of my favorites) then the more reasonable sounding guard. The crusty guard wonders why they have to put patrols *outside* the mansion since what they're supposed to guard is inside the mansion. The other guard (the one I'm interested in) tells him he's a taffer and that the best thing to do is catch the thief before he gets inside. This guy may have been one of the voices in the bear pits conversation as well, but I don't really remember. So who is this guy? He has the sexiest voice of all in Thief. I LOVE his voice and could listen to it for hours. It's even sexier than Garrett's, though only just barely.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves. Garret is so much more than a voice. He is a real life flesh and blood...
{err... wait a minute....}
well... he's still human...
{no... umm... that doesn't work...}
I'm sure he has feelings though, and you are belittling those feelings by talking about his voice, I don't care if you did mention his Personality and cynicism and...
{errr, wait, doesn't that include his feelings? Nevermind, I don't need logic, I've been offended by a trivial matter and I'm ranting indignantly}
Anyway, in the proud tradition of Betty Friedan and other feminists, I'm forming the National Organizition of Garrett - or N.O.G. for short - to protest this sort of Misogarretistic behaviour. Keep this sort of thing up and all Garretts everywhere will burn our cloaks in protest.
[/sarcasm off]
Seriously though, I actually do think leering at lara is worse - I mean, she doesn't exist at all, at least Garrett's voice came out of a human being. And NO, I don't think a little healthy appreciation of what you find attractive is all that bad. Still, I find it creepy the idea of being TOO interested in a virtual character such as this (and I'm not accusing anyone here of such a thing). It's like falling in love with a cartoon. That's kinda pathetic...

Unless you're talking about Daphne from Scooby-Doo, now she was a hottie.

Still she haunts me phantomwise,
Alice moving under skies,
Never seen by waking eyes.

Here's the real question!
Sexier voice: Garrett, or Manny Calavera?
Inline Image:

If garrett is OK coz he has a REAL voice then lara isn't coz she doesn't have a real voice, yeeeessssss. no there is a voice actor for lara, and she was not ment to be a sex symbol, things just got out of hand, (literally).
as for lara, io don't find here attractive, TOO many hours watching that arse, wow that will screw with your brain sooo much.

We lads can fight back. In kind of course.
Now, there has already been reams written about the vocal cords of Terri Brosius (System Shock is, what.. 6 yrs old now?)
But who the hell is Esra Gaffin?!
Yoink! (some of you will know her as Janice Polito)
In newbie talk I suppose it would go:
"Dey is some emphatic cords g!"

The guard voice Bruny is wondering about belongs to Dan Thron. He's one of my favorite counterexamples to the "LGS is too cheap to hire all voice actors and using designers/programmers/artists sucks!" argument.

Awww, Stephen's a cutie. He's not in my age group, I suppose, but I'm more interested in him as a voice actor.
If Garrett were a real person, I would love for just one chance to get to know him. This only for his character--I would love to settle the debate once and for all over who he truly is, and I have a feeling he'd have a lot of stories to tell. Besides that, I think he actually does want friends. No, he's not all cuddly and sweet, and maybe he is a bastard, but I think he's a bastard with a heart. He's like a certain friend of mine--acts like a tough guy all the time, but deep down, he's human like any of us.
He does have one hell of a sexy voice, though, doesn't he? ;)
