In this 1973 version of the classic fairytale Cinderella has a very active role. She's not the kind of girl who falls right into the Prince's arms, which makes her especially charming, to him and to the audience.
The film's a holiday classic in several European countries now, so it is traditional here. But I don't think it's very well known in the US, so I thought I'd list it anyway.
I'm not sure if there is an English version though. I found one (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zL-2HDO9Uvk) BBC version with an English narrator talking over the film, but I'd avoid that if possible. Get an English dubbed version (if there is one), or watch either the German or Czech version with subtitles. During filming the German and Czech actors talked in their native languages and it was later dubbed for release in both countries.
