Hm, I'm still only about half way through TDP and TMA (bought them recently), so in the meantime, here are my favs from TDS :
Rutherford Castle (End of the Bloodline)
The Hammerite Cathedral (St. Edgar's Eve)
The Keeper Compound (Of Brethren... and Betrayers...)
The Overlook Manor (In the House of Widow Moira)
The Wieldstrom Museum (Still Life with Blackjack)
But I actually loved all the missions, none of them were really lacking, imho.
The Sunken Citadel was maybe a little too straightforward and a little boring, but it had nice architecture designs. The Cradle is an ingenious level with quality psychological horror, but I don't really count it as a usual mission, due to the more "explorational adventure game" nature of it.

DP: Down into the Bonehoard
MA: Ambush! also Framed is good, only that could have been more... more.
DS: Wieldstorm Museum and the Overlook Mansion
I also think that some of the FMs actually surpass many missions in the original games (especially true to DS).

I'm usually a fan of missions where the player goes through abandoned territories, so you might already guess which missions I liked...
Thief (Gold): Return to the Cathedral, The Haunted Cathedral, Into the Bonehoard, Lost City
Thief 2: Masks, Trace the Courier, Kidnap
Thief 3: Robbing the Cradle (what else?), and the one in the Widow's house.

I actually really enjoyed Shalbridge Cradle in the Deadly Shadows it was really creepy and kept me on my toes.

If it is a single mission, it would be Calendra's Cistern, whose only flaw is a degree of linearity and maybe a bit too empty underground segment. It has city exploration, sneaking in a heavily patrolled area, a huge side-quest, all beautifully realised.
If I must stick to OMs... hard. Either Assassins for its vision of The City, or The Sword for its surreal elegance. Hm. And Uninvited Guest.

Sticking to OMs here.
T1: If I save the TG missions for their own category while not counting the changes to preexisting maps, Assassins and The Haunted Cathedral are very closely tied.
TG: Song of the Caverns, bar none.
T2: Running Interference, probably.
T3: I have three: House of the Widow Moira, the Sunken Citadel, and Robbing the Cradle.

TDP : Breaking into Cragscleft Prison
TMA : A Life of Party
TDS: The Cradle (which I think is the best non FM ever)

T1
The Lost city.
It was the most awesome mission because of the following reasons:
* Theme- was mainly steam-punk/medieval, the lost city was totally new territory, first time I played that mission I was like ''holy damn''. Big difference in theme and architecture.
* Feeling of isolation - The haunted cathedral comes close, but in the lost city I felt the most ''on my own'' which really helps to build up atmosphere.
* Location - A sunken hundreds of years old forgotten city in a big geological unstable cave surrounded by lava. Such stuff always make some neat playing!
* The lack of human pawns was again something totally different.Except the haunt which felt slightly misplaced.
* Hard times to hide - the automatic lights in the buildings and the well lit map required extra thinking and made it much harder. Harder is always better. ;)
* Exotic enemies, craymen (I simply love them), haunt, fire elementars, burriks
* Interesting loot- finally something else than golden plates and vases. The first mission where I always took a close look at the loot. Especially the masks.
All in all this mission was the best for me because it was ''something completely new'' after the missions before. :D It felt a bit Indiana Jones-ish but much creepierc- and thats good in my book . :)
Sadly, the theme was pretty much ''raped' in thief 2. I was hoping for new lost city stuff and I all I got was a strange mix of mechanists stuff in old ruins.
And I dont even want to talk about the T3 ''lost city''
But since I saw one special screenshot from the dark mod I am full of hope again.
T2 Shipping and recieving
Excellent architecture, very steam-punkish, great music, very good atmosphere overall. A perfect mission for a thief. It had the ''industrial'' theme which was kinda missing in thief 1.
T3: Hmm I didnt like the missions at all, the clocktower-mission was the one I didnt hate as much as the others-. The clocktower-mission at least ahd some interesting architecture. The ''lost city'' map was again screwed up badly. The cradel was interesting but the level design felt way to modern even for the steam-punk thief theme. It looked more like late 18 century. The enemies were interesting, (the puppet-undead) but thats all.

Abandoned places have a mysterious appeal to me I suppose
I'm aware none of these missions is a real 'thieving' mission.
I am glad that someone else feels the same!:D
Couldnt agree more.

You realise that was the intent? The Mechanists were invading everything everywhere. But yeah, there weren't enough missions with the classic feel.
