Vote for your favourite Thief 2 fanmission of the year 2016! :)
Note: Mission 3: Shadows of the Past is the Mission by Christine & Kamon, not to confuse with the mission from the Quick Cash Series!
General rules for the T2 polls: Demos, very short missions, foreign languages and OM remakes are only included if the space allows it. Same goes for missions that already appeared in one of the T1/TG polls. Big missions with 5 or more missions to play are excluded. There will be a separate poll for them.

Some very fine fan missions on the list! My favourite level would be Watery Grave, but I also voted for Waterfront Racket, Umbelina, Morbid Curiosity, Tower of Jorge, and Coaxing the Spirit.

I voted for Waterfront Racket because it is really well done and I understand the many votes for morbid curiosity, but what is it with Watery Grave?! My notes say that it´s an okay mission (rather boring) and pretty small. Feels like I played a different mission :laff: What do you guys like about this mission? :) I´ll have to check it out again.

Watery Grave is very small, but it is exceptionally detailed and creative with an interesting layout. It is like a small appetiser for the things that people raved about with maps like Into The Odd and Alcazar

It was actually the first FM I've ever played, I thought it was great at the time, but then again I didn't have any points of comparison. In retrospect having played similar but bigger maps by other authors Watery Grave feels indeed a bit too limited in scope, but then again I think the author was still learning the ropes. Did you like Rowena's The Tower? I loved that one and it's also a map that is quite small but it's a masterpiece in space utilization.

My top three missions in this list:
Waterfront Rackett is probably as good a showcase for a total conversion as we gonna get with this engine.
It's assets are quite nice and it has a high novelty factor.
It's biggest letdown is the actual gameplay, IMHO. It feels like a "B+" at best.
Way too easy, too straight (the better detective novels of that time (Philip Marlowe etc.) usually have plot twists).
While in the later parts, I thought that this mission didn't fully live up to its hype.
Watery Grave I loved in 2016 and still do.
Well made city missions are always my favorite and this one has extremely interesting architecture which falls into the Melan/Skacky design school: it's very vertical, detailed and oozes atmosphere.
Everything that's included is great but it's sole problem - in the context of this competition - is that it is very short.
While it was designed to be short the result is a certain amount of sadness that it is over so quickly.
I wanted to stay in that quarter a bit longer but it wasn't meant to be.
To me it is the second best mission in the list. It's still an A but not an A+ (short missions don't get a +/- qualifier from me).
Morbid Curiosity is lovely made, with all the content you can want.
It has some iconic locations which you will remember when you replay this mission (which I did at least twice since publication).
It has nice, varied gameplay, isn't too easy but not unfair either and a nice, rough map which isn't too detailed.
It's a mission that perhaps makes you think a bit more than most in that year.
This mission is in my book the best mission in this year and the one modern classic in this list.
It gets an A+ and my single vote.
All in all I think that 2016 wasn't too hot a year for T1/T2 FMs, though, and it was easy for me to rate.
Thankfully we also had a few very nice Dark Mod FMs in that year, especially the very nice Penny Dreadful 3: Erasing the Trail...

I love Rowena's the tower. Just like all rowena's missions it has an amazing gameplay and outstanding story.
Watery grave imo is far from being as good.

I only remember two missions from that year. Must have been a busy year for me to not have played many new FM's.

Morbid Curiosity is my favourite one here but Watery Grave is second - I love those cramped, highly detailed, atmospheric missions. At third place I'd put Coaxing the Spirit, an interesting mission if sometimes frustrating.

And the winners are:
1. Morbid Curiosity
2. Watery Grave
3. Coaxing The Spirit
Congratulations! :thumb:
Important Information: There will be no poll for the next 4 weeks, because I´m going to Japan for a few weeks and won´t have time to take care of it. The next poll will be up on December 17.
And you can look forward to it, because some real masterpieces will be pitted against each other :D
