Why is everybody whining about the length? We all knew well beforehand that the game would be about 4 hours long, it was written in the official FAQ. As discussed on the first page of this thread.
In case you haven't figured it out already, my housemate isn't part of "we". And, granted, I only skimmed the thread, but I don't see a case of "everybody whining".

After a few fights you've pretty much done everything. There is zero freedom in the game. I don't hate it but just not loving it right now.
You may have done everything as far as the basic gameplay is concerned, later fights merely up the ante rather than introduce anything new, but you certainly haven't
seen everything. I agree that the lack of freedom in exploring your surroundings is a let down but I'm sure if ACE get another shot at this universe they have created they will expand on the current formula.
I've put quite a bit of time into and while the core gameplay is great fun it's not without it's issues. In particular auto-lock on enemies and the inability to holster/throw away weapons before the enemy gets into lock-on range has lead to my untimely demise on a number of occassions. I've been browsing the ACE forums however and they are aware of these issues and are looking into fixing them.
One feature I would absolutely love is some kind of freeplay option where you can choose the arena and the fighters. Challange mode is fun enough but I want to practice against certain enemies (OK, I really just want to beat the shit out of that woman with the long black hair who gave me so much grief in the SP) and the Challange arena is pretty dull to look at too.
Has anybody found any 'hidden' moves? I've noticed that sometimes when I do the evade when the enemy attempts to attack it goes into to slight slow-motion and if I do the counter attack it a very powerful stiff arm that sends the enemy flying. I haven't been able to consistently do it so I'm not sure if it's just random or not. Another thing I love doing is when you have one of the heavy enemies, is to get them to do their stapede into other enemies. Locking onto them can make this quite easy.

what can I say, once I finished the game I turned the difficulty higher and started replaying it. now I got many of the moves without thinking and the switch between enemies, weapons and getting some food inbetween works natural. The fights are much better now but still hard !
I didn't like the challenge mode, random tower is boring.
* an arena mode where you can pick fighters and weapons and location would be very appreciated indeed
* some natural traps or different effects of plants
(I'm thinking of those magic mushrooms your fight teacher uses to create his ghost illusion)
I read the planned DLC for Zeno Clash will be free, so they can still improve or deliver more options. But as it is now, it's one of the best games I played this year.

So, what 3-4 people on TTLG.com played and liked this game? That's it? Wow. And did we ever hear back from Digi w/his impressions about it?

for what it's worth, I bought it and loved it too. Not the second coming, but the design is beautiful and the melee is pretty visceral. Well worth the 50% off steam preorder.

Finished. I liked it. Maybe less than some people here, but more than most of the reviews I've seen. One more unique thing about it is that as it really ramps up the difficulty (it's tougher to beat on the easiest level than many games are on the hardest) it never makes you any tougher... no health boosts, no bigger guns, no armor packs. You're always just barely given what you need to survive the round, which made me really have to think about what I was doing during each fight and not just button-mash wildly (can you button mash on a mouse/keyboard?) One exception is the last fight, which I swear I was only able to win by luck. I don't think there was a single section I was able to get through without dying at least once, but never one that I had to redo more than a dozen times.
I enjoyed the story, but I am not posting spoilers. :)
If ACE comes out with Zeno Clash 2, I'll get it.

Meh. Haven't beaten it, and not likely too.
The melee model is about on par with Dark Athena's, and much like that game, it only works well when you're up against a single opponent.
Riddick's designers realized this, and gave you stealth options to avoid have to go hand to hand with hordes. Zeno clash's designers did not, and while their melee model is interesting, it's completely wasted since it only shines in one on one, and you're almost always up against multiple opponents - often multiple opponents where they have guns - and it is not designed for brawls of that sort.
The character design and artwork is fascinating, but the level designers were clearly completely out of touch with where the strengths of the gameplay were.

Zeno's manual lock-on/off feature works about as well in purpose as Riddick's stealth feature does in it's own IMO, and was added in a recent patch.
It can be a pain to position yourself properly at times, but I'd guess that the difficulty factor must have been a way to artificially lengthen the game a bit.

Toggling tunnel vision on a single opponent does precisely jack shit to address the fact they made a game about 1 vs 3 combat and only gave you 1 on 1 moves.
