why Thief>Splinter Cell.

Well, I don't think Splinter Cell is bad. It just started rolling downhill since Double Agent (Blargh!).
The newer title, Conviction, feels more like a 007 game than everything. They took off allmost all gameplay elements from it.
Hope 'Thi4f' doesn't take a inspiration from it and tries to turn Garrett in some kind of trigger-happy thug. Or some silent assassin like Altair. (Blerght!)
Oh, and by the way (getting off-topic), anyone noticed that Garrett 'kills' a man in the Thief 1 and 2 intro, but instead of killing, blackjacks in Thief 3?

I just hope that they don't go down the path of holding your hand as your play through the level.
It was essential in Thief that you get lost atleast once a level, because there was no pointer telling you where to go. Or the map wasn't easy to read at first.
As Yahtzee said, Conviction was like controlling a man on Sam Fisher's back controlling him. We don't want that distance from Garrett.
Atleast... I don't.

Splinter Cell looks like it's third-person. I much prefer first-person games. Also, from Yahtzee's review it appears to be too much hand-holding. Perhaps it's just the tutorial.
BTW I work for a game studio and one of Yahtzee's past reviews is for a game I've worked on! I won't say which one. :cheeky: His review wasn't actually too bad, surprisingly.

I saw my sister yesterday and she asked to borrow a Thief game. She knows I'm obsessed with it and have been playing for six years, but she's only just taken an interest because Yahtzee keeps name dropping. No trust in my taste.
I'm going to start her on Thief 2.

Start her off with Thief 1. Introduce her to the zombies and spider in Cragscleft.
Make a loud noise when she finds the body of Brother Martello in the Haunted Cathedral :ebil:

Definitely start her on Thief 1, that's where the story begins.
