I'm pretty sure he can, but you have to hop in front of a hammer and intercept the spell because the priests won't cast it on you normally.
I hate the new zombies. They don't scare me at all because the only zombie-like thing about them is their sounds. Until you get real close they don't look much more than shirtless bums with real dark makeup on their eyes.
